Nicole Kidman Revealed a Surprising Hair Transformation for the 2025 Met Gala (2025)

The Met Gala is a night for big fashion and beauty reveals, and this year is no different. For the Met Gala 2025, Nicole Kidman is among the many stars who are surprising us with a big beauty transformation. For Kidman, it’s coming in the form of a tremendous hair change.

We’re used to seeing Kidman with a voluminous blowout and her signature long blond tresses and a glamorous side bang, but she gave us something totally different this time around: a two-toned blond-and-brunette super short cut. It’s a little longer than a pixie and not quite the right shape for a bob, and the hair tapers off to the back of her neck. Aside from a side bang with a sweeping piece of hair falling across her forehead, the rest of her now supershort tresses are slicked back in one of her most dramatic hair transformations yet (and one of the many stunning hair looks of the Met Gala 2025).

Virtue Creative Director and celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel styled Kidman’s hair using Virtue, Denman, and Kristin Ess products to get the look.

In a press release, it was revealed that the inspiration for the hair look was a tailored short cut to bring out the essence of Dandyism. Abergel “wanted to celebrate this year’s theme by honoring the Dandies and their individuality, elegance, and confidence—where every detail is tailored to thatunique person. Hair has always been a tool of self-expression and creative liberation, unlocking the power of transformation through personal style,” the press release continued. “A polished finish to this look is incredibly important. Adir created a super fine polish to the hair by adding extra shine, reflection, and height.”

On the same day of the Met Gala 2025, Nicole Kidman got a bold haircut: Abergel went for the boldest move of the day by snipping her hair for a tailored cut. Here’s exactly how to get the rest of the look, according to the press release.

To prepare the hair for a blowout, he applied Virtue’s Damage Reverse Serum from roots to ends, and followed up by integrating Virtue’s Volumizing Primerat the top section of the hair, focusing on the roots, and then applying a quarter-size amount of Virtue’s Un-frizz Cream.

He then brushed her strands using his favorite Denman brushes from the Floral Fantasies collection, and blow-dried the hair using the Kristin Ess Blow Dryer.

For the top sections of the hair, he used the Denman Vent Brush and blow-dryer to create volume where needed at the cascading bang area. He followed up by taking a 1" Kristin Ess Curling Iron and putting a very soft bend on the ends of the bang area.

Lastly, to finish the look and create the superfine high gloss finish, he reapplied Virtue’s Un-frizz Cream all over the sides, followed by Virtue’s Healing Oil throughout the top and bangs for that extra polished finish.
